The Marine Mammal Center
Just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, nestled in the hills of the Marin Headlands, is the Marine Mammal Center, one of the largest marine mammal hospitals in the world. It's a great place to take children to learn more about the ocean's mammals and what we need to do to protect them. And it's also free! (The rehabilitation areas and offices are off-limits for obvious reasons.)

The Ghost Net Monster. Everything you see was taken from the stomach of a beached whale. Humans suck.
There's an area set aside with a warning that it's not for the faint of heart. When an animal dies, the researchers conduct an autopsy to diagnose the cause. Thankfully, this room was empty.
HDR sea lion loves the view outside.
You can learn more about the center and donate here.
